The members of the research working groups form a unique network which enables close cooperation between FBA and the academic community. Today, there are altogether seven groups, composed of over 130 eminent scholars attached to world-leading international universities and research institutes. The members of the research working groups specialize in issues related to FBA’s areas of expertise.

FBA organizes annual academic seminars and conferences, where the members meet and discuss their ongoing research, methods and results before publication. These meetings also enable the establishment of contacts that are important for future joint research projects. In addition, the members of the research working groups can apply for grants from the FBA each year.

Since 2018, Fredrik Wesslau has been seconded by FBA to the EU advisory mission in Ukraine (EUAM). In the role as Deputy Head of Mission, he is part of leading the organization's daily work and strategic direction.
